Privacy

This is a plain-language placeholder for the owner to review before launch. It is not legal advice.

What the app stores

  • Your name, email, and a password hash.
  • Check-in answers and the practice plan built from them.
  • Practice sessions: which exercise, how long, and a self-rating.
  • Mood notes and stammer notes you choose to type and save.
  • Coach profile answers you type during personalisation.

If you continue as a guest, what you do is saved to an anonymous guest account with no email or password; it stays only while this browser keeps its sign-in cookie, and moves to your account if you create one from the guest banner.

Anonymous usage analytics

To see which parts of the app help people, SpeakEase counts anonymous usage: which pages are opened, which features are used (for example that a drill was started or a check-in was saved), the site or link you arrived from, your country, and whether you are on a phone or computer. A random id in a first-party cookie tells repeat visits apart. Your IP address is not stored, nothing is shared with advertisers, and your speech, transcripts, typed messages, mood notes and check-in answers are never part of analytics. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, the app does not count you this way. The site also uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which collect anonymous page and performance data without cookies.

Voice

A spoken check-in is sent to the server so it can be turned into text when a speech provider is configured. The account stores that text and your scores. A mood-page recording stays in the browser and is not uploaded; type the note if you want it saved. Coach voice practice sends your recording to our speech-to-text provider, Deepgram, to get the words and their timings. SpeakEase does not store that audio or transcript. SpeakEase is not a medical record system.

Who can see it

Your notes are tied to your login. Other people using the app should not be able to read them. The person running this deployment can access the database. There is no separate public profile.

What this is not

SpeakEase does not diagnose, treat, or cure stammering. It is a practice companion. If you want clinical support, talk with a speech and language therapist or a stammering organisation such as STAMMA or the Stuttering Foundation.
